Famous Distance Education Learners
Hi
After reading through this blog, you may still be unsure whether online colleges are a viable way for you to get a higher education? Or perhaps you have taken the decision to start a distance learning degree but need some additional inspiration as you go on this new journey.
Just remember that you are not alone. Whilst you may have read about everyday people who have gotten their degrees or done courses online, there are some pretty successful and famous people who have gone the distance education route.
Here are some of them:
1) Nelson Mandela, former President of South Africa, completed a B.A. degree with University of South Africa via correspondence
2) Abraham Lincoln, 16th President of the U.S, studied law through correspondence course
3) Portia Simpson-Miller, Jamaica’s first female Prime Minister, got a bachelors degree in Public Administration through The Union Institute, a distance learning institution headquartered in Cincinnati
4) Jerry Greenfield and Bennett Cohen, who started Ben and Jerry, learned to make ice cream through a $5 correspondence course at Pennsylvania State University. The rest, as they say, is history
5) Shaquille O’Neal, basketball superstar, completed a MBA degree online with the University of Phoenix
6) Walter Chrysler, who formed one of the three major car companies in the U.S, did many engineering courses via correspondence.
7) Jennifer Love Hewitt, singer, actress, completed high school via correspondence courses
8. Mary Peters, U.S Secretary of Transportation, got her bachelors degree with the University of Phoenix
9) Nathan Sproul, noted political consultant, online MBA, University of Phoenix
10) Arnold Schwarzenegger, Governor of California, completed his degree via correspondence from the University of Wisconsin - Superior
If these people can do it, so can you.
Make it a great day
David
